Reasons to switch
Up to 40Mb
Fibre broadband is our latest addition to our business broadband range of services, offering download speeds of up to 40Mb, as well as new faster upload rates of up to 2Mb with our standard product and up to 10Mb with Fibre Plus.
With such high upload and download speeds you can send large documents, upload to FTP sites and generally do more, twice as fast. You can easily run multiple applications simultaneously without slowing your work down. You can also ensure your data is backed up instantly.
We provide ongoing 24/7 freephone support so you can call our dedicated Fibre team for help or advice any time. Our Fibre Plus product also gives you preferential fault handling, for extra peace of mind when broadband is critical to your business.
In addition to the new higher speeds of fibre broadband, our service also includes business prioritisation of traffic which means that during busy hours, 90% of the time the throughput should not be lower than 16Mb.
New fibre hub & free engineer installation
When you upgrade to fibre broadband we’ll send an engineer round to install your new service and help transfer any settings from your old router to a new fibre hub.
If you have a non-BT router
Most modem/routers are not compatible with the technology used with fibre. You will therefore need to swap your existing modem/router for the BT Business Fibre Hub which provides the connection required to maximise fibre usage. A BT engineer will set-up the BT Business Fibre Hub with default settings for you to customise as you wish. If you already have BT Business Total Broadband with a Business Hub, the engineer will replicate your existing settings. The engineer will also connect one of your computers to the Hub to provide a working Internet connection.
Non-BT broadband router with integrated site-to-site VPN
If you currently have a router providing site to site VPN, it may be possible for this to continue once fibre is installed. However, the engineer performing your installation will not be able to assist with reconnection of this equipment. The engineer will install your BT Business Fibre Hub and connect one of your computers to prove a working Internet connection. Support of the VPN is your responsibility.
If you are moving to BT from another provider, your static IP address will change and you are advised to update any applications which may be affected by this, for example web hosting. If you are moving from one BT Business Total Broadband product to Fibre on the same line, your Static IP will remain the same.
You’ll need 2 power sockets to power both the modem and BT Business Fibre Hub and these must be within 1 metre of each other. The modem will need to be positioned on a firm service, or wall mounted.
Non compatible products
Unfortunately the following products are incompatible with our super-fast fibre broadband service.
- BT Micro
- BT Versatility PBX switch
- BTnet or MPLS
- Nortel BCM Voice switch (there are two version of this product)
One version connects directly to the master socket through a microfilter. This version is not compatible.
Another version is supplied with the BT Business Hub and is compatible with Fibre.
How it works
MAC code help
A MAC code makes the switch from your provider to BT simple and quick with no disruption to your broadband service. Simply select your current provider from the drop down list at the top of the page to obtain the number to call them on so you can request your MAC code.
Can I transfer my email?
When you switch to BT you can transfer an existing domain name if you have one or you can use the BT email address issued when you connect. If you use an email address from your current ISP, it may be worth setting up email forwarding. This explains how you can forward email from a BT account.
Can I transfer my static IP address?
You can order a Static IP address when ordering BT Business Total Broadband. However, it is not possible to transfer a Static IP address from one ISP to another. If you order BT Business Total Broadband with a Static IP address, the address will be available as soon as the account is activated. You will receive details in your welcome letters and emails.
Can I transfer my domain name?
If you own a domain name you can easily transfer it to BT and you can also purchase a new domain. We’ll send your username and password for your account when we acknowledge your broadband order. You will be able to log in after 24 hours and add a domain
